Nancy Raitano Lee, PhD, PRESENTS:The Neuropsychological & Neuroanatomical Phenotype in Down Syndrome

Event Description
Nancy Raitano Lee, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and research fellow in the Child Psychiatry Branch of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). She works within the Section on Brain Imaging where she oversees the neuropsychological components of the section’s research investigations. In 2010, she initiated a longitudinal study focused on brain and cognitive development in youth with Down syndrome. She continues to lead this research initiative for which data collection is ongoing.

Nancy Raitano Lee, PhD, received a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors and Distinction in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University. She completed her doctoral training in Child Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Denver. She also completed her internship and clinical post-doctoral training in Colorado at the Children’s Hospital and the University of Colorado Medical School, respectively.

Her research interests include the study of the neuropsychology and neuroanatomy of Down syndrome and sex chromosome aneuploidies. She has also completed research on the comorbidity between speech, language, and reading disorders. A final area of research and clinical interest for Lee is in the identification of comorbid autism spectrum disorders in children with different genetic syndromes, particularly Down syndrome.
