Event Description
The 2015 Philly Chef Conference will be held Sunday and Monday, January 11-12 2015 at Drexel University. The conference is an annual event designed to showcases new and useful ideas and techniques through lectures, panel discussions and demonstrations.
The conference is organized “by chefs for chefs” to benefit culinary and hospitality students, young cooks, sous chefs and more developed chefs who aspire to own their own restaurant.
New this year, day one of the conference is open to the general public with the second day reserved for hospitality industry professionals only.
The first day of the conference will feature panel discussions on Pennsylvania’s wine and spirit laws, the future of dining in Philadelphia and a keynote address from Chef Peter Reinhart, internationally renowned expert on bread and baking.
The Philly 2020 Dinner, featuring rising chefs representing the future of dining in Philadelphia, will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Academic Bistro and will be open to invited guests and sponsors only.
The second day of the conference will remain dedicated to hospitality and restaurant professionals only and will feature industry discussions and demonstrations.
Panelists include Jeff Benjamin, Kevin Sbraga, Spike Mendelson and Michael Klein. Demonstrations will include meat and fish butchery, and molecular and modernist cuisine from Shola Olunayo.
