Event Description Dick Moberg, President of Moberg Research, Inc., will discuss how the human brain amazes us in its capabilities, though its complexity has frustrated progress in the treatment of brain injury. Over the past 30 years, clinical trials to find a drug or management protocol to improve outcomes in brain injury have largely failed. The multifaceted nature of the brain continues to confound the results. The Smart Neuro ICU is a concept that will combine high resolution data collection and advanced informatics tools in an attempt to improve the outcomes of these patients, as well as allow more targeted trials. Funded by the Department of Defense, Moberg Research is creating the informatics infrastructure for this new ICU. An overview of this development will be presented along with many areas that need further development and "invention." The goal of the seminar is to inspire research that will help the development of this much-needed informatics infrastructure. For more info, please visit www.biomed.drexel.edu. |
