Event Description
From January 17-22, the animal enclosures in Outside In will get a festive winter makeover! We’re bringing the winter weather indoors to our animals as snowflakes fall all over the exhibit.
You might spot a hedgehog snuggling in a cozy mitten, a tarantula chilling with a snowman, or a snake catching snowflakes on its forked tongue. You may see a bunny snowball fight or a skunk go ice fishing. Snuggle in for a seasonal story from Marty the Moose (don’t forget your pajamas!), and make a snowflake to add to the blizzard!

What is enrichment?
Keepers develop tailored enrichment plans to keep our animals happy and healthy. One day, a parrot might enjoy special music, a bunny will play with new toys, or the raptors will soak up “rain” during a spritz of their enclosures. The rain encourages the birds to preen their feathers as they would in the wild.
These enrichment activities prepare the animals for the spotlight. With help from Academy teacher naturalists, the animals teach visitors about endangered species, habitats, exotic pet challenges, city animals, and backyard creatures. |
