Event Description ACRL and ALISE Joint Discussions to Enhance LIS Education at the 2014 ALISE Conference and 2014 ALA Midwinter Meeting
In recognition of the evolving needs of the academic library workforce, ACRL has initiated steps with ALISE to strengthen and formalize a connection with LIS educators. It recently established the Library and Information Science (LIS) Education Division-level Interest Group and asked ALISE for a member who would serve as a liaison to the new SIG. Objectives include promoting discussions, programming, and projects that enhance LIS education.
Please consider joining these efforts by participating in two upcoming conference events or joining the new ACRL Education Interest Group. The two events are sponsored by ALISE, ACRL, ACRL Delaware Valley Chapter, ACRL LIS Education Interest Group, Drexel University Student Chapter of the American Library Association, and Drexel’s College of Computing & Informatics (CCI). What has enhanced or impaired the success of these collaborations? • How might potential areas for collaboration with ACRL members aid ALISE members in meeting curricular, program, and other goals, especially those related to academic libraries? • In what ways could a formal connection with ACRL aid the ALISE organization?
