Event Description

A Healthier U is offering a limited number of scholarships for a CPR/First Aid/AED course for faculty and professional staff, taught by instructors from the American Red Cross. The scholarship will cover the entire cost of this course. This course will be presented in a “blended learning” format, meaning that there will be both an online component as well as an in-person component followed by an exam.

·         Online Component: The first portion of this class will be offered online and will take an average of four hours to complete at home. This portion of the course will be available to participants for only two weeks before their in-person skills portion and exam.

·         In-Person Skills Session: The second portion of this class will be a 2.5-hour, in-person skills session offered on the University City Campus. During the “skills” portion, participants must show a certificate of completion for the online portion of the course.

At the skills session, participants will receive hands-on instruction about how to perform CPR. At the end of the skills session, you must be able to demonstrate resuscitation techniques in order to complete the class and become CPR/AED certified by the Red Cross.

You must be able to commit to the 2.5-hour in-person sessions at the University City Campus (MacAlister Hall 2019/2020) on Weds. March 11th from Noon-2:30pm in order to apply for this opportunity. Space is very limited.

In order to apply for this opportunity,  you must answer the following questions in order to be considered:

1.       Why are you interested in CPR/First Aid/AED?

2.       Please explain your interest in this topic as it relates to your work with Drexel University.

3.       What else would you like us to know about you that might be relevant to CPR/First Aid/AED?

4.       Please explain your commitment to learning CPR/First Aid/AED and any scheduling concerns that might prohibit you from completing this online or on-site coursework.

5.       Are you able to attend the in-person session on Weds. March 11 from 12-2:30pm in MacAlister Hall 2019/2020?

Participants will be selected based on course availability and a sincere interest in learning CPR/First Aid/AED. Please send in your application as soon as possible, as applications will be considered in the order that they are received. All applications must be received by February 10, 2015 at the latest. Space is very limited. You are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

To apply, or if you have any questions, please email Monica Fauble, Program Coordinator for University Wellness and A Healthier U, at mfauble@drexel.edu. This opportunity is available to faculty and professional staff only. Thank you for your interest in a safer campus.
