Medicaid as a Safety Net: Does Medicaid Generosity Mitigate the Effects of Unemployment During  Economic Downturns

School of Public Health and Information Sciences
University of Louisville

His research areas include: 1) the effects of public policy on access to care and the health care safety net, 2) disparities in health outcomes associated with medically underserved status, and 3) Medicaid program design. Currently, Dr. Benitez is engaged in work to further detail the impacts of Medicaid expansion in Kentucky with special attention given to estimating spillover effects and changes in hospital usage.
