Throughout one's working career, one will find many obstacles to overcome, whether they be in technology, design, business, finance, or production. One will also experience evolution and obsolescence in just about any sphere of work. When I began my engineering career, for example, I was designing electronic circuits using vacuum tubes. Most students today do not even know what a vacuum tube is.

If one wants to get ahead in the workplace, in life, and in social relationships, one must always be willing to take on new challenges, most of which are not usually as hard or daunting as they might appear initially.

Based on a career spanning 60 years and more than 30 projects, each of which addressed a new technology, I will discuss how to deal with constantly changing technology and the processes of many projects that involved the implementation of new advanced technologies to address a new set of requirements.

Biosketch:
Mr. Herzog previously worked for RCA, which later became part of General Electric, which then became part of Lockheed Martin. He subsequently left Lockheed Martin to do consulting in new technologies. He received the RCA Outstanding Engineering award in 1976, and also the Grover E. Bell award for outstanding contributions to helicopter technology. Mr. Herzog also received other letters of commendation for outstanding performance, as well as Aviation and Space Laurel Awards for the first helicopter fly-by-wire technology. He led and contributed to many symposiums in the fields of optics and lasers.

Mr. Herzog has over 50 patents and patents pending, and has published and presented over 50 technical papers in the military-aerospace, commercial, medical, and biomedical fields.
