Coming of Age in Philadelphia: High School Students Debate Their Future
Promoting Hope for Urban Youth
Talented students from the Philadelphia Scholastic Debate League will discuss the relative merits of college and career readiness. Dr. Michael Nakkula, a distinguished scholar in positive youth development, will explore this issue in connection to the promotion of “possibility development.”
Event Overview: - Reception prior to the event
- Student teams from Parkway West and Olney Charter High Schools debate college and career prep.
- Meg Hess-Homeier, debate/drama coordinator of ASAP, moderates the debate.
- An exhibit of college and career readiness programs occurs throughout the evening.
