BEES Graduate Research Seminar: "The Role of Coevolution in Speciation"

Abstract: Coevolution, reciprocal evolutionary change among species, has often been cited as an important factor in creating diversity in interacting lineages.  I will examine the evidence that coevolution can drive speciation by using a textbook example of obligate pollination mutualism, the interactions between yuccas and yucca moths.  My talk will explore the evolutionary history of this interaction to test the role of coevolution in speciation of both plants and pollinators.
