Event Description Join us for a light lunch and “Veterans Day Primer” event on the drill floor of the Armory in preparation for Veterans Day 2012.
This annual campus event gives brings us together to collectively recognize our University's rich ROTC history, pay respect to the hundreds of current student-veterans on campus, and honor the employees and alumni who have served or continue to serve our Nation. The Veterans Day Primer is a patriotic and inspirational event you won’t want to miss as it includes history, music, special guests and military traditions. The formal program will begin promptly at noon with additional activities spanning the 11:30AM to 1:30PM timeframe. The Drexel Veterans Association welcomes a very special guest, Freedom’s On Me founder, Poto Leifi whose internationally exhibited work is displayed in the Drexel Veterans Lounge, a campus space which celebrates its one year anniversary this Veterans Day. Learn why Poto left his work as a designer and photographer after the terrorist attacks of 911 to serve his country in Iraq and Afghanistan and how he was able to use his talents and experiences to help the families of the fallen service men and women of this generation. For more information about Poto, visit: http://www.freedomsonme.com/home.html. Poto will be hosting a workshop in the Veterans Lounge at 4PM for those who are interested in learning more about his work. Please sign up for the workshop by emailing Rebecca@drexel.edu – space is limited!
Drexel celebrates its fourth consecutive year as a G.I. Jobs Military Friendly School and Yellow Ribbon Program. We hope to see you at the Primer event which includes an opportunity to participate in our continued letter writing campaign (with Liberty USO) to support actively serving service men and women, a chance to visit the Museum Rooms of the 103rd Engineer Battalion PA Army National Guard, and an invitation to view a special exhibit of historic America Flags on loan for the day from the Philadelphia Flag Association -in the Annex of the Armory.
