End Date: 11/8/2013End Time: 5:30 PM
Event Description
Cindy Schaarschmidt, MA, assistant director, Drexel Fellowships Office, and Kara Spiller, PhD, assistant professor, Josa Hanzlik, PhD candidate, and Claudia Gutierrez, BS/MS candidate, all in the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, will discuss the Whitaker International Program, which sends U.S. biomedical engineering (or bioengineering) students and graduates overseas to undertake a self-designed project that will enhance their careers within the field. Along with supporting grant projects in an academic setting, the Whitaker International Program encourages grantees to engage in policy work and propose projects in an industry setting. The goal of the program is to assist the development of professional leaders who are not only superb scientists, but who also will advance the profession through an international outlook. Opportunities range from a summer program to a full year abroad. This seminar will cover the application process for the Whitaker opportunities. Faculty and students who have completes research abroad and/or won this prestigious Fellowship will share their experiences. For more info, please visit www.biomed.drexel.edu
