Event Description
No one has it easy all of the time, and some periods in our lives can be more tumultuous than we are accustomed to dealing with. That doesn’t have to be a problem, if we are prepared.
So how do we prepare for difficult times without spending our days anticipating disaster? (Not advisable!) Like training for a marathon, we start slowly, sensibly, and build up those muscles and capacities that will help carry us the entire course, and excel the whole way.
Mindfulness practices are foundational inner strength training techniques. They’ve been time-tested for over two thousand years, and recently updated and validated by the latest neuroscience and stress-reduction measures from MIT to Stanford to our own research facilities in Philadelphia.
This event is open to the entire Drexel community. RSVP required. RSVP to Monica Fauble: mfauble@drexel.edu
Our speaker Amy Edelstein began her in-depth meditation practice in 1982. She trained with teachers at the Dalai Lama’s monastery in India, with early founders of the western mindfulness movement, and now teaches internationally. In addition to courses for faculty and corporate staff, she founded a mindfulness and cultural development program reaching 700 high school students in Philadelphia.
