Violent Conflict and Health: The Role of Public Health Professionals
Start Date: 10/7/2015Start Time: 2:00 PM
End Date: 10/7/2015End Time: 3:30 PM
Event Description
Kaveh Khoshnood, PhD, associate professor at Yale School of Public Health

In its seminal 2002 World Report on Violence and Health, the World Health Organization (WHO) described violence as a public health problem and called upon public health professionals to become more engaged in examining the causes and consequences of violence and to develop strategies to prevent it. More than 12 years later, how have we responded to this call?

In this presentation, we will discuss how epidemiological methods can be applied to understand specific health consequences of violent conflicts and the role of health professionals in peace-building efforts.
