Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (SSCE 9109)

Event Description

The Drexel Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training is a comprehensive and rigorous journey that a dedicated student can undertake to expand and hone his or her continuous improvement skills. Facilitated classroom teaching is used to demonstrate and practice tools and skills which the student then immediately applies to a real world opportunity.

Sessions are fast paced and timed to synchronize with a typical project life cycle. Throughout the project, the student will receive coaching and mentoring, both as part of the classroom group and individually, to maximize the student’s success. Upon completion of the class, project and a final exam the student will become a certified Black Belt, able to address larger and more complex challenges.

FEATURES

  • Blended learning including student-paced online content in conjunction with hands-on, mentored., in-class demonstration.
  • Opportunity to apply tools to case studies and real projects
  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring to accomplish successful project results. A Master Black Belt will work with each student prior to class to assist them in defining a project; during the training to ensure project progression; and at the end of the class to close out the project and ensure certification requirements are met.
  • Group exercises and interactions with other cross-industry process improvement experts

CLASS STRUCTURE

  • Eight days of in-class training and coaching spread over five months
  • Ongoing assignments to support and practice developing skills
  • In-person final exam
  • Project based- from opportunity identification, root cause analysis, identification of improvements, and solution implementation
  • Project presentations: Five tollgates per project to assess progress and ensure results
  • Access to Master Black Belt for individualized coaching and consulting

CONTENT

  • Robust set of Lean Six Sigma tools and approaches to accomplish exceptional ongoing continuous improvement results
  • Includes advanced analytical tools required for complex problem solving
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of statistical techniques that eliminate errors and sustain improved performance levels
  • Detailed approach to transformational customer-driven process improvement

REQUIREMENTS

  • Students must identify a project that is a significant and viable improvement opportunity. Tools and skills developed in the class will be applied to the project to demonstrate a student’s learning.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools and approaches, including Lean Six Sigma. (Green Belt experience is highly recommended.)
  • Flexibility and drive to deliver results. A key component of the class is the student delivering a completed project while receiving ongoing support and coaching from the instructor.
