What is Prison For? Perspectives from Norway and Pennsylvania

Event Description
Join us inside a medium security prison for an exciting conversation about the role of prisons in the United States and in Norway. Warden Are Høidal, Halden Prison in Norway, and the Honorable John Wetzel, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, will discuss the practical and philosophical goals of prisons in their respective jurisdictions. The documentary "Breaking the Chains: From Halden to Attica" (2017) will also be screened. Transportation provided from campus. RSVP required at norwaypaprison.squarespace.com. Space is limited.
