Event Description
There are 64,000 disasters each year to which the Red Cross responds. Ninety percent of their workforce is made up by relief volunteers, who handle a variety of jobs from volunteer management to disaster preparedness presenters to action team members. There is a great deal of service opportunities and in the wake of the natural disasters in the southern part of our country, on the west coast and in the Caribbean, the need is particularly high.
Associate professor Joan Rosen Bloch, PhD, CRNPA and Patricia Wallace, executive assistant to the dean, arranged for a Red Cross representative to be in Three Parkway on October 23rd at 12p.m. to meet with faculty and staff to facilitate volunteerism through an on-site, streamlined and efficient process and to explain the logistics of volunteering in one of the devastated areas.
