Event Description

Benedetto Piccoli, Rutgers University - Camden

Abstract: We illustrate a new type of evolution equations for Radon measures based on tools from optimal transport and the Wasserstein distances. This can be seen as a natural generalization of ODEs to measures. Existence, continuous dependence and uniqueness in the framework of semigroups will be discussed with generalization to the multivalued case (measure differential inclusions). Then we show a connection between weak entropic solutions to conservation laws and their measure-valued derivatives as solutions to MDEs for signed measures.
