Event Description
This month, Jessica Gould and Mary Ellen McCarty from the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) will discuss Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI), an emerging stormwater management method adopted by PWD in 2009. This program uses vegetation, soils, and other elements to reduce stormwater runoff. GIS is used to supplement Green Stormwater Infrastructure in all project phases, from site selection and design to data cataloging in enterprise geodatabases. During the session, presenters will describe their new GIS data model developed to house GSI asset geometries and how it connects to existing work order management systems to enable maintenance, monitor, and easy reporting.

About the Presenters
Jessica Gould is a GIS Specialist at the Philadelphia Water Department. She has 14 years' experience in water/wastewater GIS. She holds a B.S. in environmental science from Boston University and a MGIS from Penn State University. Mary Ellen McCarty is a Green Infrastructure Planner and GIS Specialist supporting the Philadelphia Water Department's Green City, Clean Waters Program. She holds an M.S. in Community & Regional Planning from Temple University and a GIS Certificate from North Carolina State University. |
