High Performance Computing Breakthroughs in Engineering

Event Description

Supercomputers, or High Performance Computers (HPC), are now the principal tools of science achievement whether spanning the cosmos or focusing on the subatomic particles. Across a range of engineering fields, the use of simulation and computational modeling is pervasive for designing engineered systems. Researchers and manufacturing teams depend on HPC to create safe and efficient product, effective communication systems, efficient supply chain models, and much more. In his 60-min talk, Dr. Koric who provides the technical leadership for the largest industrial supercomputing outreach in the world at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois, will explain what supercomputers are, who uses them and will provide a few examples of supercomputing applications and accomplishments from academic research and industry that he and his team have achieved lately at NCSA.
