Skills Lab: Navigating Barriers to Employment for Clients with Criminal Records

Event Description
Jamie Gullen, a staff attorney in the Employment Unit at Community Legal Services, will present strategies for navigating barriers to employment for low-income clients with criminal records. Ms. Gullen will provide: 1) practical knowledge about the laws and regulations that govern employment discrimination; 2) scenarios in which employers may refuse to hire ex-offenders; 3) key information you may share with clients with criminal records about their rights. This Skills Lab will be useful to all law students who serve clients in Philadelphia through pro bono, clinics, or co-ops. All students are welcome.
