Event Description
Welcome to the first session of the Fall term for the new Learning Hour Series! This Learning Hour will discuss the differences between verbal and written communication and inform participants on how to create simple, effective written communication including memos and emails.
Participants are strongly encouraged to bring an example of a work-related communication to the session.
Presented by Professor Sharon Brubaker, Department of English and Philosophy. Professor Brubaker is an Adjunct Faculty member and Acquisitions Technician for University Libraries. Professor Brubaker teaches for the Freshman Writing Program and is a tutor for the University Writing Center.
Objectives for this session include a heightened awareness of the importance of clarity, conciseness, and tone in written communication, and the ability to create more effective written communication.
