Event Description
Diane Rosenfeld, director of the Gender Violence Program at Harvard Law School along with Angela Epifano, a former Amherst College student and rape survivor whose first-person story in the Amhurst College newspaper gained worldwide attention will be on campus presenting this program that will teach our community to be a critic of our social culture and also how to participate and change that culture.
Diane L. Rosenfeld is a leading national expert on Title IX, she has advised the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the Department of Justice on legal policy regarding the obligations of schools to prevent and address sexual
violence on campus.
Prior to teaching at
Harvard, Ms. Rosenfeld served as the Senior Counsel to the Office on Violence
Against Women of the U.S. Department of Justice. She also served as an
Executive Assistant Attorney General in Illinois where she provided legal
policy advising on women’s rights, environmental enforcement, and the ethics of
governmental attorneys.
Author of “Who Are You
Calling A ‘Ho’?: Challenging the Porn Culture on Campuses,” she engages
students to think critically about how to change the current climate on college
campuses, where one-in-four or five young women will be sexually
assaulted. A light reception will follow the presentation.
