Event Description
The weather may be getting colder but the PBQ reading series is heating up! Join us for a special event at the Black Sheep Pub featuring acclaimed poets Gregory Pardlo and Roger Reeves.

 

Gregory Pardlo is the author of Totem, which received the APR/ Honickman Prize in 2007, and Digest (Four Way Books, 2014). His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in American Poetry Review, Boston Review, The Nation, Ploughshares, Tin House, as well as anthologies including Angles of Ascent, the Norton Anthology of Contemporary African American Poetry, and two editions of Best American Poetry. He is the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship and a fellowship for translation from the National Endowment for the Arts. An associate editor of Callaloo, he is currently a teaching fellow in undergraduate writing at Columbia University.

Awarded a 2014-2015 Hodder Fellowship from Princeton University, a 2014 Pushcart Prize, a 2013 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship and 2008 Ruth Lilly Fellowship, Roger Reeves' poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Best American Poetry, Poetry, Ploughshares, American Poetry Review, Boston Review, and Tin House, among others. "King Me," his first book of poems, was published by Copper Canyon Press in 2013. "King Me" was awarded the 2014 Larry Levis Reading Prize by the creative writing program at Virginia Commonwealth University and the PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles Literary Award. He is an assistant professor of poetry at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
