A Presentation on "Aya of Yopougon": a French/African Graphic Novel

Event Description
This inaugural meeting of the English Faculty Research Seminar will feature a presentation on "Aya of Yopougon," a French/African graphic novel by author Marguerite Abouet and artist Clement Oubrerie. In his presentation, Andre Carrington, assistant professor of African American literature, will discuss how popular texts including Francophone bandes dessinees provide us with resources to think critically about representations of post-colonial Africa and Africans in Diaspora.
