International Area Studies presents I-Café , Is Syria Still a “Crisis?” with guest speaker Robert Vitalis, PhD, professor at University of Pennsylvania.
This month’s I-Café will examine the sources of changes that are being witnessed in Syria and Iraq, as well as what the U.S. response indicates thus far.
Robert Vitalis teaches political science at the University of Pennsylvania. The London Guardian named his "America's Kingdom: Mythmaking on the Saudi Oil Frontier" a book of the year in 2006. His new book, "White World Order, Black Power Politics" (Cornell University Press, 2015, forthcoming) moves away from the Middle East to explore the unwritten history of the IR discipline in the U.S. and the recovery of its critical “Howard School” tradition.
International Cafe is a monthly forum sponsored by International Area Studies and the College of Arts and Sciences that provides globally themed discussions that are open to the entire Drexel community. Lunch will be provided. For more information, please contact Jacqueline Rios at jsr62@drexel.edu. |
