Event Description

The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University is pleased to welcome back Professor Tim Flannery, scientist, author and climate-change activist.

Professor Flannery will be discussing his new book Atmosphere of Hope: Searching for Solutions to the Climate Crisis. Following up on his 2005 best-seller The Weather Makers, Flannery's latest work focuses on both the urgent reality of climate change and the concrete steps that might be made to address the looming crisis.

Professor Flannery, who received the 2011 Leidy Medal from the Academy, has been a distinguished researcher in the fields of mammalogy and paleontology, as well as a popular author. His advocacy on climate change and conservation - both within government and without - has received worldwide attention. He was named Australian of the Year in 2007.

Professor Flannery will be speaking at the Academy auditorium (1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway) on Tuesday November 3rd, from 6:30-7:30pm. The program is free and open to the public. Registration is requested.
