Event Description Applied Content Strategy: Bringing Purpose to Web Projects
Web content strategy is the discipline of connecting business goals and users’ needs to the content you publish — and when it’s missing, our websites become a mess: fluffy corporate jargon, confusing interface copy, bloated navigation, and more content than anyone knows what to do with. In this introductory workshop, we’ll talk about why content strategists are in demand on web teams, and how to start applying strategy skills whenever you work with web content.
This workshop is designed for those with writing and editing backgrounds who want to bring their communication skills to the web, such as technical writers, marketers and students.
During this workshop, we will:
- Cover the basics of content strategy
- Practice setting goals and establishing content standards
- Build skills analyzing web content
- Practice writing for the web, with a focus on content that works for mobile/responsive experiences
