Webinar: New Approach to IS Design for Boundary-Spanning Groups
Start Date: 11/1/2017Start Time: 2:00 PM
End Date: 11/1/2017End Time: 3:00 PM

Event Description
With CCI Associate Professor Susan Gasson, PhD

The use of agile, iterative information systems (IS) development methods has arisen in response to limitations in traditional, waterfall models of how IS requirements analysis and design should proceed. However, agile methods have no underpinning model of how design actually takes place to guide how we construct a big picture of system requirements from which to design the supporting system for a diverse and fragmented set of “user-stories.” This creates problems for IS development groups in business organizations, whose job it is to build integrated systems that supports users from multiple areas of work.
In this webinar, learn how design takes place in groups of people who are attempting to define requirements for a new information system that spans business domain boundaries (different areas of work). Explore the way in which members of a boundary-spanning design group agree goals for change – and how these goals for change fail when used to define a shared set of IS requirements.
