Dean's Seminar: Emotion-Centered Problem-Solving Therapy and Suicide Risk Reduction
Start Date: 11/1/2017Start Time: 3:30 PM
End Date: 11/1/2017End Time: 5:00 PM

Event Description
Arthur M. Nezu, PhD, DHL, ABPP, Distinguished University Professor of Psychology, and Christine Maguth Nezu, PhD, ABPP, professor of psychology

Whereas the U.S. mortality rate continues to decline overall, deaths due to suicide across all demographics have risen. Given the significance of this public health epidemic, continuous efforts to both understand suicidal ideation and behaviors and reduce its occurrence are imperative. This talk will focus on one area of theory building, research, and program development addressing these goals, that of the role of social problem solving and its related psychotherapy approach, Emotion-Centered Problem-Solving Therapy. Art and Chris Nezu, PhD, will highlight their work with two particular populations— U.S. veterans and college students.

The College of Arts and Sciences' Dean's Seminars are free and open to the Drexel community. Light refreshments will be served.
