Event Description This workshop, presented by Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union in partnership with A Healthier U as well as the Earle Mack School of Law, will provide participants with a basic understanding of estate planning. Topics covered will include how to get started on planning for death and incapacity, what constitutes your probate and non-probate estate, why you might consider executing a will, durable power of attorney, health care power of attorney, living will and/or revocable trust, and how your estate planning may change over time. By the end of the seminar, participants will be familiar with:
- The terminology and default rules associated with inheritance
- Why you need a will
- Some general concepts governing wills and trusts
- Identifying probate and non-probate assets
- Advance directives, including living wills, health care powers of attorney and financial powers of attorney.
