Event Description
Emmy Award-winning choreographer and theater director, and two-time Guggenheim fellow David Gordon is inviting the Drexel community and the public to join him for a discussion about issues of free speech during a free symposium on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. in URBN Center Room 349 (3501 Market St., Philadelphia). This symposium, organized by visiting professor Hana Iverson for her Art and Social Justice media class, covers the history of censorship and investigation in the United States and includes a preview of Gordon’s upcoming PEW-sponsored theatre piece, Brecht/Eisler: Uncivilities presented with Theatre Program Director Nick Anselmo. Described by The Nation as, “an ironist, with an appreciation of paradox, a fascination with the psychology of partnering, an ambivalence about glamour and fame,” original work includes the Bessie and Obie Award-winning The Mysteries and What's So Funny?, Autobiography of a Liar, FAMILY$DEATH@ART.COMedy and his acclaimed 9/11 response piece Dancing Henry Five. |
