Event Description
Sarah Jencks explores the conflicts inherent in coming to terms with slave-holding ancestors, considering whether reparations are possible and how honest genealogical research can shape our historical understanding.

 

Sarah Jencks is the director of education and interpretation at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., where she develops exhibitions and programs that explore Civil War Washington, the history of political violence in the United States, and the ever-evolving legacy of Abraham Lincoln.
