Event Description
The Office of Research will be sponsoring a two-day Grant Writing Workshop taught by the Grant Training Center. These workshops will be held on December 15 and 16 and are open to all Drexel University faculty and professional staff (including post-docs). These workshops are being made available to those who are in the process of submitting grants to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and/or the National Science Foundation (NSF) or who are planning submissions to these agencies. Given the limited seating available, graduate students are currently not eligible for this workshop.
Working both nationally and internationally, the Grant Training Center has helped institutions of higher education, K-12 schools, non-profit organizations, service professionals, foundations, government agencies, educators, researchers, and professionals from various agencies to succeed amid the complexities and rapid change of the grant writing world. They pride themselves on their tradition of integrity, expertise, and creative approach to grant development.
After attending, participants will be able to:
- Find the appropriate program and grant mechanism for your idea
- Identify and avoid common pitfalls of a grant
- Develop an irresistible idea for your grant application
- Address the pieces of the request for proposal
- Maximize your application for competitiveness
- Package the proposal in the requested format
- Understand the new scoring system and the review process
- Learn what actually happens in the study section
- Search for the appropriate study sections for submissions
There are two workshops, each one-day long. Individuals can register for one or both workshops. The dates are as follows:
- Monday, December 15: National Science Foundation (NSF) Grant Writing Workshop
- Tuesday, December 16: National Institutes of Health (NIH) Grant Writing Workshop
Each workshop will be held in PISB 104 and will run from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A continental breakfast will be provided to all attendees. Registration is open to all Drexel University faculty and professional staff (including post-docs).
To register for a workshop, please complete the registration form. All applications should include a short letter of nomination from each prospective attendee’s respective Department Head, Director or Dean upon submission. Space is limited so please register early. Registration will close on November 28.
