Building Community, Fostering Wellness: Supporting Learners in Their Developmental Trajectory

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe how learning communities could impact the structure and process of education in medical school.
  • Describe effective models for medical school learning communities currently in use nationally.
  • Consider how learning communities can uniquely address the developmental trajectory of students in their professional identity and career development.
  • Describe how student well-being and wellness initiatives can be taught in the context of a learning community.
  • Consider how longitudinal relationships with students and colleagues might impact a faculty member’s sense of identity, engagement and perspective as an active learning community member.

Target Audience
All faculty, residents, administration and staff at Drexel University, Drexel University College of Medicine and academic campuses.
