Combating the Diabetes Epidemic: A Vision for the Future

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review the epidemiology of diabetes as a systemic disease.
  • Discuss screening and early detection of diabetes.
  • Explain systemic complications of diabetes.
  • Discuss latest treatment modalities for patients with diabetes.

Target Audience
All primary care physicians and medical specialists caring for diabetic patients, including endocrinologists, nephrologists, ophthalmologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, optometrists, podiatrists, fellows, residents, and medical, optometry, and podiatry students.
