Dean’s Lecture Series Nanogenerators as New Energy Technology and Piezotronics for Functional System
Start Date: 7/29/2013Start Time: 2:15 PM
End Date: 7/29/2013End Time: 4:00 PM
Event Description
Drexel Engineering will host the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series with Dr. Zhong Lin (ZL) Wang, Hightower Chair in Materials Science and Engineering, Regents' Professor, Engineering Distinguished Professor and Director of the Center for Nanostructure Characterization at Georgia Tech. Wang will discuss the intersection between nanotechnology and energy. He will focus on how developing wireless nanodevices and nanosystems is of critical importance for sensing, medical science, environmental/infrastructure monitoring, defense technology and even personal electronics. At the lecture titled, “Nanogenerators as New Energy Technology and Piezotronics for Functional Systems,” Wang will explain how nanogenerators (NGs) have been developed based on piezoelectric, trioboelectric and pyroelectric effect, aiming at building self-sufficient power sources for mico/nano-systems. This talk will emphasize on the fundamentals and novel applications of NGs. The Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series is free and open to the University.
