The Linear Time-Frequency Analysis toolbox: Mathematics and applications
Start Date: 2/27/2013Start Time: 3:00 PM
End Date: 2/27/2013End Time: 4:00 PM

Event Description

Speaker: Peter L. Søndergaard

Abstract:

The Linear Time/Frequency Analysis Toolbox (LTFAT) is a Matlab/Octave toolbox for working with time-frequency analysis and synthesis. It is intended both as an educational and a computational tool.

In this talk I will present the concept of frames and the basic transforms of time-frequency analysis namely Gabor system and wavelets, and their generalizations to filterbanks and non-stationary systems.

The linear transforms provides the foundation, but for efficient signal processing non-linear methods are often employed. I will present methods for spectrogram sharpening, coefficient thresholding and the study of multipliers.
