Event Description The winter concert series begins with “An Evening Of African American Music,” a tribute to late singer-songwriter, Rev. Gabriel S. Hardeman and a celebration of Black History Month performed by our Gospel Choir and Jazztet on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. in the Mandell Theater (33rd and Chestnut Streets). Hardeman was the founder of the Gabriel Hardeman Delegation. He was known for the gospel hits “Feel Like Fire” and “To The Chief Musician.” He also collaborated with various artists around the country, including Edwin Hawkins, Teddy Pendergrass, and Stephanie Mills. The choir will be performing selections written by Mr. Hardeman and the Jazztet celebrate Black History Month with repertoire from legends of jazz and gospel music. |
