Event Description Jason Schneiderman author of "Sublimation Point," a Stahlecker Selection from Four Way Books, and "Striking Surface," winner of the 2009 Richard Snyder Prize from Ashland Poetry Press While most young poets think about received poetic forms as challenges to master (or as straightjackets to avoid), they are rarely taught about how particular forms demand specific kinds of reasoning or moods. Jason Schneiderman will consider the villanelle, the sestina, the sonnet, and the ghazal, looking at the ways in which the prosodic structures make rhetorical demands on the reader.
“I love being questioned! It lets me pontificate with the premise that I'm doing someone else a favor!!” --Jason Schneiderman
