Event Description Nine professors stranded on a desert island and only one spot on the life raft...who will save humanity?!
The Premise: Nine professors—conveniently one from each department—are stranded on a desert island. With only one chance for escape (a single-person life raft), each “islander” must argue for why they—specifically, their discipline—is most deserving of survival.
The Islanders:
- Jerry Mead, PhD, Biodiversity, Earth & Environmental Science
- Daniel Marenda, PhD, Biology
- Ira Taffer, PhD, Chemistry
- Devon Powers, PhD, Culture & Communication
- Peter Amato, PhD, English & Philosophy
- Joel Oesterich, PhD, History & Politics
- Dimitrios Papadopoulos, Mathematics
- Michelle Dolinski, PhD, Physics
- Karol Osipowicz, Psychology
Come clap, jeer, heckle and cheer for your favorite faculty member or discipline…only one can survive.
The College of Arts and Sciences Raft Debate is part of this year's CoAS Research Days. Be sure to stick around for the Research Days reception and awards ceremony at 3:30 PM!
