Learn about the exciting research being done by faculty in all departments of the College of Arts and Sciences!

 

Speaker: Naoko Kurahashi Neilson, PhD
Department: Physics

The Universe has been studied using light since the dawn of astronomy, when starlight captured the human eye. The IceCube Neutrino Observatory proposes to observe the Universe in a new way, using neutrinos (small elementary particles) as the messenger. IceCube is an enormous observatory that is buried deep under the surface at the geographic South Pole. This talk will explain the extreme astrophysics that Naoko Kurahashi Neilson, PhD, studies at extreme energies, in an extreme location.

The College of Arts and Sciences' Dean's Seminars are free and open to the Drexel community. Light refreshments will be served.
