Start Date: 2/18/2015Start Time: 3:00 PM
End Date: 2/18/2015End Time: 4:30 PM
Event Description
Kathleen Volk Miller, teaching professor of English; director of the Graduate Program in Publishing and the Drexel Publishing Group

The Spring English Faculty Research Seminar Talk

Kathleen Volk Miller will share 20 years of experience in the literary magazine industry, along with videos and data collected by one of our Humanities Fellows, to illustrate the importance of the literary magazine in American publishing. She will share an insider's look at how editorial teams select work and why you should target lit mags for your own publication.

Kathleen has been using the literary magazine as a classroom text for the past decade. Students engage with the modern literary magazine in a different way than a standard rhetorical text. Lit mags' very newness and malleability make for a more approachable experience for students. Kathleen will discuss various exercises she's used, and why they succeed.
