Life Threatening Hacks: Mobile Health and Medical Device Data Security

Rapid technological innovation in mobile health and medical devices has led to major advances in medical care and treatment. Given the aging baby boomer population, mobile health and medical devices have become increasingly critical to our nation’s health IT infrastructure. But the pacemaker hack used to assassinate the Vice President on the TV show “Homeland” provided a graphic illustration of the dangers posed by weak cyber security in these systems. While this story was fictitious, the existence of life-threatening hacks is not. Time and again, exploitation of Medical Device vulnerabilities have been demonstrated and Mobile Health data has been stolen.

Join in the discussion as this panel of industry experts explores key issues relating to cyber risk in Mobile Health and Medical Device systems. The group will share their fascinating perspectives on cyber security, ranging from coding, firmware and application development, mobile health law and compliance and cyber risk management for healthcare organizations, device manufacturers and patients/consumers.
