Event Description
The Farajollah & Maryam Badie Arfaa Lecture Series hosted by the Drexel Architecture, Design & Urbanism department presents Paul Levy: Designing and Managing Public Space. What's Public? What's Private?
Paul Levy is the founding chief executive of the Center City District (CCD). Working with civic leaders in 1991, CCD was created to help make Center City cleaner and safer. Now, 28 years later, it is one of the premier downtown districts in the world. Under Paul Levy’s leadership, it has expanded its scope to include events such as restaurant week and holiday markets. But its most significant achievement has been the creation of new public spaces for which it has raised funds, led design, overseen construction, developed programming and provided ongoing maintenance. In an era of diminished public resources, CCD has created some of the most memorable places in Philadelphia, among them Dilworth Park, The Rail Park and Sister City Park.
This lecture is free and open to the public. |
