Event Description
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering is hosting Philly Materials Science and Engineering Day, a FREE event open to the public where you can learn more about how the stuff we interact with every day — from sunscreen to LED lights — really works.
Event attendees can find out what it’s like to run across liquid, eat ice cream made in seconds, create power from produce, and more!
Philly Materials Day will include dozens of hands-on demonstrations for all ages and special behind the scenes tours for high school students interested in pursuing STEM fields. The event is sponsored by Boeing, Verder Scientific and Arkema, Inc. Partner organizations include the University of Pennsylvania, the Science History Institute and the North Penn High School Nanotechnology and Engineering Research (NEAR) group.
