Event Description
In an age of broad government surveillance, Big Data, high profile data hacks, and new digital threats that come from a dangerous and uncertain political climate, how can ordinary people learn to protect their digital lives? The Library Freedom Project (LFP) attempts to solve this problem by bringing together the expertise of librarians, hackers, attorneys and activists to create practical privacy trainings for people at any level of technical ability. Come learn about how LFP is fighting surveillance and making digital privacy tools mainstream and ubiquitous through the trusted space of the local library.
Speakers:

Then, Alison Macrina, MS library and information science '09 – a librarian, internet activist, the founder and director of the Library Freedom Project, and a core contributor to The Tor Project – will give a talk. A Q&A session will follow.
Free food and refreshments will be provided (courtesy of the co-sponsors).
