Tai Chi is often described as “meditation in motion.” In addition to reducing mental stress and physical tension, the Tai Chi and Qigong movements that will be used in this workshop gently massage the internal organs, move the major joints, and increase one's internal energy, agility, and flexibility. They are suitable for anyone regardless of age or ability, and many of them can be done sitting or standing.
No special clothing is required, but please wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move in, and please wear flat-soled shoes. No heels.
Our instructor Ralph Quinn is certified by the Tai Chi for Health Institute to teach a variety of sets and styles of tai chi and qigong in Dr. Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Health program. He has taught tai chi safely to people of all ages, drawing on his practice of more than 40 years. Ralph continues his own studies with his original teacher, Maggie Newman, who was a senior student of Grand Master Cheng Man-ching, and he also studies tai chi, qigong, and bagua under Master William Ting.
