Topic: Meanings of Life: Feminist Resources in Michel Foucault's Theory of Biopolitics
This presentation focuses on French philosopher Michel Foucault's theory of biopolitics. According to Foucault, biopolitics is a political rationality that disciplines and regulates populations, working to control and direct life forces. The author will explore the understanding of life or bio- at work in Foucault's biopolitics as well as the resources that this concept might provide to feminist philosophy. Refreshments will be provided.
