7th Annual Student Conference On Global Challenges - Gender
Start Date: 3/13/2014 All Day
End Date: 3/13/2014
Event Description
MALE. FEMALE. TRANSGENDER. XX. XY. XXY. MASCULINITIES. FEMININITIES.
How do we live and define sex and gender in 2014 and beyond? Innovations in science and technology combined with shifting social and political forces impact contemporary understandings of gender. This conference offers students opportunities to share their research and engage in critical reflection and dialogue about sex and gender as it relates to the diverse disciplines of health, education, science, human rights, technology, medicine, law, media, economics, politics, culture and history.
The conference will include two exciting keynote addresses by Dr. Tererai Trent, evaluation specialist and Oprah’s all-time favorite guest and Dr. Rashad Shabazz, expert in the geographies of gender and racism.
How can you and your students get involved?
This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain experience presenting on an academic panel and use their knowledge, diverse cultural frameworks, and different disciplinary perspectives to think critically about one of the world’s most pressing issues.
Please encourage your students to apply to present on a panel and/or register to attend the conference activities. You may even want to think about adding it to your syllabus. If you are interested in serving as a faculty moderator or would like us to come speak in your class about the conference opportunities, please contact Adam Zahn alz26@drexel.edu or 215-895-6372.
The student conference is free, open to the public and will include breakfast, lunch, and a networking reception with raffle prizes. For more information please visit www.drexel.edu/international.
